Le Liban

Pour donner une chance à la résolution franco-américaine en  
préparation, l'offensif terrestre n'est pas déclenché. Mais le projet  
de résolution en faveur des arrêts des hostilités pendant 72 heures  
pour des raisons humanitaires proposé par la Russie est rejeté, ce  
qui rend le cri de l'OMS très pertinent:

(En résumé: The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that the  
majority of hospitals in Lebanon will not be able to function by the  
end of this week because of a chronic shortage of fuel. WHO said fuel  
must be allowed to get through, otherwise the human death toll will  
rise significantly.)

Dr Nicolas, le premier à venir voir cette situation, devrait prendre  
un premier contact avec l'ambassade de France hier pour les informer  
de la mobilisation de la néphrologie française pour le cas où d'ici  
la fin de semaine une solution politique n'est pas trouvé.

L'Israël

L'extrait ci-dessous, résume les conditions de vie des diaysés  
israëliens:

Our days and nights are passing slowly in an unrealistic way, where  
life is guided either by the wailing of the sirens or by the  
frightening noise of the rockets falling around us. Chronological  
time has lost all meaning and the only time that makes sense these  
days is the number of the war day. Today is the30th day of the war  
and that's how we count time.

In between the rocket attacks and taking care of the wounded we are  
trying to keep up with the routine hospital work. Our hospital is the  
only hospital in the country with underground facilities. Hundreds of  
rockets have fallen on Nahariya since the onset of the war, including  
a direct hit on the hospital, which destroyed our ophthalmic and  
surgical departments. Fortunately, there were no injuries because  
everybody was underground.

On the first day of the war our dialysis unit moved underground In  
this shelter there are 30 dialysis stations. In addition to our 140  
hemodialysis patients, we have also absorbed another 80 patients from  
the surrounding communities. We are working at a 200% capacity,  
around the clock, giving dialysis services in a safe environment.

The hospital management has also opened a 24 hour day care center for  
the staff members' children where they can play or sleep while their  
parents work. This is also open for the children of dialysis  
patients. As the hospital has a lot of underground space, some staff  
members and their families stay here around the clock.

Another way the hospital takes care of its staff in this stressful  
time is by the creation of a relaxation center where volunteers from  
all over the country give holistic treatments such as massage,  
reflexology, shiatsu, etc., helping the staff to unwind for 20-30  
minutes in a safe, quiet environment.

In our dialysis unit we conduct daily staff meetings during each  
shift. These meetings serve two main purposes. One is to give a  
current update of the situation and of hospital policies. The second  
purpose, which is of no less importance, is to give the staff an  
opportunity to share their feelings, fears and experiences and give  
support to each other.

The most frightening part of our day is traveling to and from work;  
never knowing when and where the rockets will land. Also most of us  
are separated from our families as most of the children from this  
area have been evacuated to other parts of the country. These days,  
small gestures of help and support, which at other times may seem  
unimportant, take on a new significance during this stressful time.  
Staff members that bring a cake or some other home cooking, others  
that work extra days so their colleagues can take time off to see  
their families give us a sense of comradeship that make these  
difficult days a little more bearable.

La Turquie

Sept tonnes de matériels de dialyse péritonéale, don de la TKF,  
attendent, déjà dédouanés, au port de Mersin, . Ce matériel a été  
demandé en urgence, rupture totale, par Dr Mourani, néphrologue- 
pédiatre. Contacté après minuit, j'essaie de débloquer cette  
situation de détresse, mais ai perdu mon contact aux Affaires  
Etrangères Turques. Je ne sais pas à qui il a délégué s'il est parti  
en vacances.

La France

L'élan de solidarité continue. Nous avions commencé avec nos deux  
Société et Fondation, juste un travail de prospection, pour le cas où  
que nous espérions "jamais concrétisé". Le rapport d'hier de l'OMS  
montre la pertinence de notre anticipation.

J'ai été à une réunion à la sous-préfecture d'Arles hier. Le Préfet  
de la Zone, en même temps le Préfet de la Région PACA, nous fournira  
des informations applicables dans tout le territoire pour les  
hébergements (via le Ministère de l'Equipement). Donc, pas d'angoisse  
pour les hébergement, l'Etat s'y prépare aussi à cette éventualité  
que nous ne souhaitons pas au nom de l'humanité.
